The Accident!
The day was long, exhausted and barely alert, we were heading home to Roxas City from Dona Crispina, navigating the narrow highway near Sapian. Out of nowhere, a reckless driver surged past, forcing me to react. But I was slow—too drained from the past days to catch the danger in time.
I had been driving cautiously, prepared for the sharp curve ahead. But evil had its own plans. Ahead parked a tricycle on the right—too late to swerve. The impact was inevitable. Inside the vehicle sat a woman, unaware of the chaos about to unfold.
The crash rang out like a gunshot. Tintin’s cries filled the car, but I was frozen as an angry mob descended. Their shouts grew into threats.

Fear took hold, my heart raced. Had I just made the worst mistake of my life?
Then, release—a police patrol arrived just in time. They dispersed the crowd, restoring fragile order, and led us to the station in Sapian. Relief was short-lived.
Eileen F. , a 58-year-old teacher, was rushed to the hospital. Her arm was fractured, requiring urgent surgery—a stainless steel implant to hold the shattered bone together. She was lucky—no head injuries—but the financial toll loomed over us.
The tricycle was wrecked, their family’s livelihood crushed in an instant.
They demanded immediate payment, plus 181,800 pesos for the surgery, ICU stay, and medical fees. We offered a down payment, but they refused, rejecting any attempt to settle fairly. The police had noted their violation—parking on a national highway—but they do not feel any
accountability and have no insurance.
We need help. Any support is deeply appreciated.
