The good news of the Gospel is this: |
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (The New Testament, John chapter 3 verse 16.) |
text reading
God sent his son to die on a cross. Jesus Christ became a sacrifice for all our sins. When we receive the righteousness of Jesus into our hearts we will have eternal life. In the Bible, the book of Genesis Chapter 1 talks about how God created the heavens and the earth. God also created man (Adam and Eve) with the purpose of a relationship between man and God. Adam and Eve had this close relationship with God until they disobeyed Him in the Garden of Eden, where they lived. In this garden were all kinds of trees but in Genesis 2, verse 17, God had warned them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of that fruit. Through this sin of disobedience, the nature of Adam and Eve became sinful and impure and all of mankind then inherited this sinful nature, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Book of Romans chapter 3, verse 23.) God in His great love and mercy formed a plan of restoration where mankind can be restored back to their lost righteousness and regain their relationship with Him. This divine exchange took place on the cross, where Jesus died for our sins. This means that everyone who believes in Jesus can receive the righteousness of God in their hearts, if they only ask Him. In order to heal the broken relationship between God and man, God had to find a way to solve the problem of sin. God is Holy and Righteous and, while He loves the sinner, He had to judge the sin of man. He did this by sending Jesus to die for our sins. What great news it is, that he has made a way for mankind to receive salvation by grace through Jesus Christ His Son. The gift of salvation is a free gift from God. It's not because we deserve it but because God gave His only Son to be the redemption for our sins. What an amazing love that Jesus, the Son of God, would die for our sins. When Jesus died on the cross, he bore on Himself every sin that men had ever committed or will commit in the future. Therefore, every person who believes in Jesus and turns away from sin will not be damned, but has eternal life. Today, we are all invited to turn to Jesus, to fully receive forgiveness from our sins and have our relationship with God restored. God has accepted the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as payment for all our sins. Therefore God invites us to freely come to Him and become His children by believing in Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour. Jesus himself said in the book of John chapter 14, verse 6 that He is the Way the Truth and the Life and no one can come to the Father except through Him. The book of Romans chapter 10, verses 9-10 says: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess your faith and are saved.” |
